Steam Powered Giraffe will be at the Steampunk World's Fair 2014. This year's fair will be held: Fri, May 16 2014 — Sun, May 18 2014.
The robots of Steam Powered Giraffe are like nothing you’ve ever seen. The malfunctioning joke-spewing metal men play a collection of original Vaudeville inspired tunes fused with modern flare and executed in a super-sleek, one-of-a-kind performance.

A new trend called Steampunk is catching in Cape Town and around the world. The futuristic style takes its inspiration from the Victorian era and what people from that time thought the future would look like.

The famous musician Bob Dylan has created: Mood Swings, a new exhibition at London’s Halcyon Gallery, that will show off a series of large-scale metalworks—seven gates made from vintage iron scraps, hand-welded by the man himself.
While it is up for discussion as to whether this work can be called 'steampunk' since it's non-functioning and doesn't use steam, the display was created by a man that has been an influential figure in popular music and culture for more than five decades. Take a look and decide for yourself.

The Steampunk World's Fair is happening at the Radisson and Embassy Suites in Piscataway, NJ this weekend.
Steampunk is a swing back to the simpler side, Steampunk is what the individual Steampunker wants it to be, as David Lee explains. Lee, standing in a narrow hallway of the Radisson hotel, is dressed as a Steampunk Darth Vader, complete with a longer, kimono-like overcoat to give the getup an Asian Gothic feel. An explanation for the melding of these genres seems almost besides the point.

If you tend to equate Madison Ballet with sugarplum fairies and dancing snowflakes, the company’s latest production will rock you out of any preconceived notions.
Dracula, running March 8–10 at Overture Center, is artistic director W. Earle Smith’s brand-new creation—a seductive, dark, edgy and decidedly adult ballet that melds an intriguing variety of influences, from classic vampire tales to steampunk style to rock and roll.
Smith recently took some time out to discuss the new work.
How did the idea for Dracula come about?

This week on the reality TV show: Top Model the models competing for a chance to stand next to Tyra Banks on television tried to incorporate a little Steampunk into this weeks photo fashion shoot. Apparently the Top Model folks think Steampunk means adding a "clock" and a "owl" to your standard Victorian period clothes. We were expecting: gears, more elaborate external mechanisms, copper, a bit more color!
Make the judgement for yourself: Steampunk or Not?

Many of us in the Steampunk community have pets that we love and cherish, and we want those pets to share our joy of Steampunk. In reality, they couldn't care less, but for some reason we still love to dress them up. Their reactions usually range from bemused acceptance to temper tantrums, but the awwwws we get from onlookers usually makes it worthwhile.
